As a creator, I like to start from texts that make sense to me, that are communicating with current thinking. Jean-Paul Sartre's Huis Clos is one of the most challenging texts I have come up with. His philosophical point of view contrasts with the theatrical mechanisms he uses, leaving it in the hands of the actors to lead us dramatically, without further effects, in a total, but meticulous, freedom on the scene. The author bases his thought on an existentialist binomial, between the "i" and the "other", and each of us occupies both places, depending on the point of view. The timeliness of this text lies in the author's ability to touch on the essence of the human - consciousness. Are we what we think we are or what others think of us? Is our conscience caught up in the confrontation with the existence of others? I see you, then do you exist? I see you, so I exist?
